I used capstar when I noticed a few fleas on my cat - I gave her a capstar tablet followed by a dose of advocate spot on. The capstar kiled the fleas on her immediately (with no side effects) and the advocate provided her with long term prevention. Remember to wash bedding and spray house with anti-flea spray though, otherwise you'll end up with a re-infestation. Great for treating fleas once spotted and was recommended to me by the vet.
