Bad design – might be ok for a small dog
This was at the top end of price for this type of dog guard so I presumed it would be ok – but I was wrong. As the guard is ‘solid’, the dog can’t see through it, so constantly jumps up with its paws on the top (even though restrained by a lead attached to the rear headrest, so he can’t come too far forward). After only a few short journeys, this hit a major problem. The item has two vertical metal bars as stiffeners in it, to keep the upper section (between the headrests) in place. The edges of these metal bars are quite sharp. With only the pressure of my 12Kg dog resting his paws on the top, one of the metal bars wore its way through the top of the fabric (it was only covered by a couple of mm of fabric) and stuck out the top. I was lucky I noticed the metal bar sticking up before the dog cut his legs on the edges. Very poor design, Kurgo – smooth the metal edges and leave maybe 7 or 8mm of fabric over the top end. I have now got a metal grill...
