This shampoo is for the treatment of dandruff and flaky skin and effectively treats Seborrhoeic Dermatitis in adult dogs and puppies over 12 weeks old. Seborrhoeic Dermatitis normally starts in areas where there are large oil glands such as the face, behind the ears and scalp. It is characterized by inflamed scalp, greasy waxy scale and sometimes reddened skin rashes. It is caused by a yeast, Pityrosporum which can also cause dandruff. It appears gradually as a skin disorder but as the symptoms persist it results in severe skin inflammation, itching and possible hair loss. The shampoo contains 1% selenium sulphide in a mild detergent base. It is a medicinal shampoo and should be used strictly as guided by the instructions or your vet. The dosage is between 25ml and 100ml according to the animal's weight. The treatment can be repeated at intervals of one week if necessary taking care not to get the solution into the animal's eyes. Do not allow your pet to lick its coat whilst the treatment is on. It can also be used to good effect on horses with mud fever and guinea pigs with dermatitis. For external use only.
