DIMENSIONS
I have a Honda Civic (T reg)and the top cross piece of the dog guard is 10cm too high to rest against the back of the passenger seats, perhaps the unit would fit other cars but is not really suitable for mine. With a labrador who still thinks he is puppy size and believes he can easily fit into the front passenger footwell (alongside unsuspecting passengers!) we needed something to 'encourage' him to stay safely on the back seat of the car, and this is just the job.
Any 'universal' guard will struggle to deal with all variations, but this is a very simple design and seems effective. It is larger than we expected and the top is in line with the front seat headrests. In a Peugeot 307 the lower cross bar tucks against the seats but the upper bar is not wide enough to completely fill the gap between the seats. This is overcome by the two webbing straps which simply attach to the headrests. Having now tried this on long journeys it has proven very effective in keeping the hound safely in the back and in a black interior the frame is not too obtrusive to leave in place all the time.
