Not quite a snip
Got this along with a "furminator" to tidy up my panic-stricken rescue westie, a dog which has been one big mat from day one, but who freaks out when approached with comb, brush, clippers or scissors (some ****** has chopped the top off one of her ears, so you can guess why).
I was disappointed to find that in order for it to work I had to keep my thumb on the "on" button - if it is switched just to "on", paradoxically it goes off. I don't know whether this is a fault or a safety facility. It is also noiser than I expected. The blurb recommends it for nervous dogs, but I had to chip her off the ceiling (though I appreciate this might be my baby's unique problems). The cut, however, is superb. I am doing her bit by bit, to accustom her to being handled, and the noise of the clipper, and have done her ears (sometimes you have to grasp the nettle)and tail. Just the job for matted cats
Bought this item to help groom my two Maine Coon cats, neither of which is too happy being brushed but both like the great outdoors and often get slugs caught up in their fur (yuck!). This wee trimmer is great for getting off the matted fur that has gone like felt and would not brush out no matter how hard I tried. One of my cats is easily spooked and I worried that he would run a mile from the trimmer as it is quite noisy, being battery operated but I needn't have worried. Both cats are very tolerant of this trimmer and you can work away on them without even having to hold them down. I think this trimmer is great value for money. I love its size, the fact that it only takes one AA battery to operate it and it comes with oil, guard combs and cleaning brush. A real bargain and so much cheaper and less risky than de-matting under sedation (
