I have even lent them to friends to help them get their own horses used to clipping and the horses tolerate these with no problems. They are also perfect for tidying up light to medium feathers, but don't expect them to go through heavy feathers or coarse cob hair - and I feel this is very unfair to think that these trimmers would stand up to a job like that.
