I do not find these airtight for storing dry pet food. The lid does not clamp tightly closed. There cannot be an airtight seal where the green top fits onto the bottom black bin. It is loose and moves around. Good idea, nice size and shape for storing away. I find that I am storing the bag inside the bin to try to keep food fresh. Manufacturer needs to revamp and it would be a first class product.

I would like to have known that it would not be suitable to store outside because I wouldn't have chosen this particular item. I bought a large container so I could leave it outside and the food would stay dry - the food does stay dry, but when you open the lid, rain water pours in at the hinge edge, straight into the container and onto the food. I've had a lot of waste pet food because of it so feel a little disappointed. It is good and sturdy for indoor use however and the scoop is stored neatly on the under side of the lid and therefore easily accessible.

I received one of these bins this morning and within a few seconds realised it's not all it's cracked up to be. The particular bin I've received has a fault with the flap on the lid so that the air tight seal isn't secure, however this doesn't matter because the green lid attachment is not air-tight with the black bin base, so it doesn't matter what features they add to the flap - it is NOT air tight and therefore can't 'keeps pests away' as advertised. I'm in the process of getting this sent back, not a happy customer - DO NOT BUY. You can get similar sized bins that serve the same function for a few quid in Wilkinsons.
