White fly solution
I've used this twice now on some over wintering cabbages. The first time there where a lot of white fly around. Spraying with neem oil diluted 5ml to a litre of water with a squirt of washing up soap killed of a lot of the white fly- some managed to fly and hide. Returning about ten days later, approx two weeks ago, there where only a few flies around and so far I haven't seen them return.
One of the things I really like is I don't feel I have to wear gloves or worry about breathing in the spray mist. I find it a lot easier to move the cabbage leaves around to spray under them etc and I'm less likely to damage the leaves without gloves on.
Using neem oil at the above dilution means each spraying costs around 30pence, how cost effective it is I'll find out a lot later. I'll give it a go at a higher dilution as a deterent and see if that works. As long as the little devils go elsewhere I don't mind.

Looper caterpillars no more!
I researched on line how to get rid of Looper caterpillars who devastate my ornamental Acer trees in pots on my patio. Ordinary pest controls don't apparently work too well with Loopers. This product helps them 'forget' to mate and feed rather than just killing them off. This would seem to be a sensible way to do it and perhaps more humane. The instructions are fool proof but I used a mild washing up liquid instead of the recommended companion soap to disperse the oil in the water and it did the job. Neem Oil worked for me.

PINK SUN Neem Control is extracted from the Azadirachta Indica tree for its powerful and naturally occurring properties, traditionally used in many applications. Pure neem oil may be added to preparations that help reduce and control spider mite, aphid, thrip, green / white fly, leaf hoppers leaf spot, downy mildew, blight, botrytis, scab, rust and powdery mildew or to naturally repel insects such as fleas, mites, ticks and lice from animals. PINK SUN Neem Control is produced by cold pressing of the neem seeds, it contains no biocides, pesticides or insecticides. With the onset of cooler temperatures the neem oil will appear thicker and more solid than liquid. This is normal and does not affect the active ingredients. Before using stand the bottle in a cup of warm water or on a warm radiator to return the oil to its liquid state. Do not microwave.
