In the words of many before me "I don't normally write reviews", but in this case I feel it is justified.
I was very excited about this product and 'pre-ordered' the unit as soon as I heard about it. Our cat went missing for 6 days earlier in the year and I hoped that purchasing this GPS device and building up a 'profile' of his movements would help with finding him next time. On paper this is a brilliant idea, and I'd like to commend the inventor for his ingenuity.
BUT... in practice the product is a very cheap bit of plastic, with (in my view) little or no functionality for its intended purpose. Upon receipt I charged the unit for 8 hours at my desk (double the recommended period) and put it on my cat at 6.30pm. By 10.30pm the unit was flashing red, indicating a low battery. And the best bit? He'd been inside the whole time.
This was fairly disappointing, but I put the unit on charge (again) overnight, and admittedly the battery seemed to last...

Don't buy as the the moment it is rubbish
despite troubleshooting from the support Facebook page my cat is still strolling around the Ivory Coast.
Apparently this has bee a problem with some units but conveniently all units that have been swapped have been found to have been not charged for 10 hours and a cold start not performed. (none of this is in the instructions supplied)
Well I have done this twice now and it does not log correctly.
Buy at your peril and at least read the comments of the Facebook page first

Putting it bluntly - it doesn't work! no GPS signal on either of the devices I bought despite extended charging and being left outside for 2 hours in the bright sunlight - complete waist of money.

G-PAWS is a unique data recorder that uses the latest GPS technology to record where your cat goes at night or how far and fast your dog runs when off the lead. It is robust, weatherproof and super-light (only around 12g), meaning your pet will hardly notice it. It's even light enough for a pigeon to wear. It attaches easily to any sized collar using a soft silicone-rubber case that the unit can be popped in and out of. There are also two Velcro straps for oversized collars. It's the only way you'll ever find out what your cat gets up to at night, how far your dog walks or, if you pay for a dog walker, G-PAWS is the ideal way to ensure your pooch is getting enough exercise. The G-PAWS unit uses a high-sensitivity multi-channel GPS receiver that detects and records its position every five seconds. The receiver is accurate to a couple of metres and will continue to work even when positioned under the pet's neck. The 'tracklog' of where the pet has traveled is stored on the unit with the capacity to store hundreds of journeys. Journeys are downloaded and saved as a GPX file onto g-paws.com. When the memory is full, new journeys automatically 'over-write' the oldest journeys. Powered by an internal Lithium-Polymer battery, giving it eight hours continual use. The GPS chip also has a motion-detector that 'powers-down' the unit when not in motion for more than five minutes so when at rest the unit will not drain power. Ideal for lazy cats and dozing dogs.
