This collar does have a decent range and like other reviews I have only had to use the tone and once I used the vibrate. Never needed the shock. When he lifts a hare I shout 'No', do a single peep on the whistle, then press the tone button, usually this results in him sitting then I recall him and praise. Range is good, like the fact it's waterproof as my dog is in and out of water a lot and keeps its charge for a good length of time. Only down side was we didn't tighten the short prongs well enough and lost one. Would definitely recommend.
