To begin with you get the bone, small for puppies larger for larger dogs (they come in different sizes, the small is about four inches long) and they do have a slightly minty scent to them, nothing overpowering, but it means that the slobber-smell is somewhat abated as puppy chews his way through the bone.
It's hard plastic type material, so good for teeth, and keeps the dog occupied.
The only downside to this bone is that there comes a point, when it is much chewed and mauled, that puppy makes the bone sharp, with raised bits that can cut your hand if you grip the bone.
