I couldn't find out if the collar came with a battery. It did but it only lasted a few days. We only used the shock once as my dog reacted quite severely, but soon recovered. However, the noise emitted seems to be adequate and there is a good improvement especially when he is outside. It is useful to be able to separate the shock connections and just use the high pitched noise.

Would defo recommend this product, it stopped our dog barking straight away only problem is that the battery doesnt last very long and they are expensive on their own, if u can get a rechargable one i would recommend that.

At the first bark the collar applies a short warning tone. If a 2ndbark occurs within 30 seconds a more intense tone is sounded along witha short mild shock. If you dog barks a 3rd time both the tone and shockare made more intense. This pattern is repeated through 5 correctionlevels. If your dog continues to bark through all 5 levels, the mostintense sound and shock are applied after each bark until your petstops for 30 seconds or more. After 30 seconds or quiet, the BarkTerminator automatically resets to the first tone only, level ofcorrection. When your dog forgets and bark again, the warning tonereminds your pet without immediately applying painful stimulus.
Getting started:
Place the collar around your dog's neck and adjust the collar lengthusing the slide buckle provided with the strap. The collar should fitsnugly underneath your dog's neck. Make sure that the electrodes are incontact with your dog skin. If necessary it is advisable to clip orshave your dog's fur under the neck to insure direct contact.
