Better than Frontline & Cheaper
I've always used Frontline one a month on my cat but it doesn't seem to have much effect on fleas any longer - I wonder perhaps if it's changed it's ingredients - or whether my cat has become immune to it after 7 years? Anyway I now use Bob Martin Flea Tablets - they are so much better and they react immediately. The dosage of the one tablet can be given again after 48 hours if necessary. She's a different cat now - obviously relieved not to be bitten.
Really Does Work
Firstly, I was very distressed to read the review from IceCream. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my cat a year ago and I know how devastating it can be. I also felt my stomach flip at the thought that I had given my two cats this Bob Martin product and what could have happened.
However, I trusted the packaging and issued the one tablet each. It worked. Both cats went mad as the fleas started dying; but this only lasted about twenty minutes. After that they were fine. Two days later I gave another dose and since then they have been flea free. In the past we had tried Frontline and it was totally useless and didn't seem to do anything.
I would recommend this product; but obviously take into account what davidS states here and maybe reduce the doseage. To be on the safe side, I will reduce the dose next time; but I still feel confident recommending this product.
Important - read this first
Oh what a terribly sad story. It is a very safe product, BUT as with all drugs dose is very important, over dosing of course can lead to toxic effects. These are 11.4mg tablets, note that the recommended dose is 1mg/kg, so for example if you have a cat that weighs 4kg you will need to dose with 4mg, which means you will have to use 1/3 of a tablet! This is impractical, so to be on the safe side I would give 1/4 tablet (2.85kg weight equivalent), as 1/2 tablet would be the dose for a 5.7kg cat. Note that 1 tablet contains the dose for an 11.4 kg cat !! Advice given on the packet is just to give one tablet, this is incorrect! No human medicine would be mis-labeled like this. I give 5 star for the product because I am a pharmacologist, but generally the labeling is criminal !
