Didn't work for us.
One day, our kittens decided it would be fun and interesting to start peeing in the carpet rather than in the litter tray. Crawling around sniffing the carpet to find the source of the smell got old real fast, so I bought this product in the hopes that it would make my life easier. Alas, no such luck!
We shone it in places we knew they'd been recently (including their litter tray, out of desperation) but nothing showed up, with the exception of a cheeky bit of poo on a white throw that we somehow hadn't noticed before.
In all fairness, it might work better on light-coloured carpets, but in my experience it was pretty much useless.

this DOES NOT WORK.....I wish I had taken notice of the bad reviews instead of believing the good ones. We have 2 dogs and a 19 year old cat. The cat sometimes doesn't make it to the litter tray or the garden and has urinated in my daughters bedroom a few times. The smell from cat urine is over powering so I wanted to make sure that when I used a odour removing spray that I was spraying the right areas and hadn't missed anything. The torch has not "picked out" any urine...even in the spot where I know the cat is using. Such a waste of money. Don't waste YOUR money on this torch. :-(
Finally we can spot the problem
I have several cats and suddenly one or two have decided to wee where they shouldn't. I was at my wits end trying to find out where. This black light makes it fun! It arrived last night and does show exactly where the problem is. It is also, as the previous reviewer commented, very CSI!
